It was a crazy stunt to do, I wish it had been left to the 'experts'. Driving a drag racer-style car is not exactly the same as driving your average road car. He's very lucky to still be alive, to be honest.

He's out of intensive care now
As for the stunt, I think he was always going to do it, and to be honest I think he wanted to do it, and although there was obviously a risk factor, he probably thought it was still worth it

i heard that James May was originally lined up to do the speed record but pulled out because events clashed and Richard decided to do it instead. i hope he gets straight back to Top Gear but i appreciate if he wants a break first.
