My idea was to run a race championship alongside a fastest lap championship. By doing this test round, I can listen to your opinions about the setup, ideas for the competition and whether what I intend to do is fine or is too much. Because we are almost at the end of the F1 season now, I think that a week per round is how the competition will work. So when you are doing this race, please think about whether a week is long enough. I think it should be, but obviously I am open to suggestions.
Race: Montreal, Canada (chosen at random)
Car: Any car you like
TIME TRIAL
Rolling start: Your choice
Fuel use and tyre wear - realistic
Component failure - on
Weather - sunny
You may change the setup of the car however you like, and run on as little fuel as you like. The aim is to record the lowest time possible, without cheating, in time trial mode.
GP WEEKEND
Overall difficulty - goes to custom
Opponent AI - hard
Crash damage - on
Fuel use and tyre wear - Off
Component failure - On
Weather - sunny
Penalties - on
Race distance - 20%
Rolling start - does not apply
You must not take part in qualifying. And DO NOT CHANGE SETUP. Use whichever car you like but on default settings. You may do as many races as you like. Please note down your fastest race lap as well.
For both events use the following guidelines for driver aids.
Steering assistance: Off
Braking assistance: Off
Stability control: Off
Visual aids: Off
Spin recovery: Off
Anti-lock brakes: On
Gearbox: Your choice
TC and Brake bias is up to you.
Info I need from each participant:
TIME TRIAL
Fastest lap and car set in
GP WEEKEND
Overall race time, fastest lap and car set in.
If doing both a time trial and race is too much, then the competition will change to being the 20% race only.
Deadline is 31/08/2006 to allow for any new entries. Please PM me with your results before the end of that day. Only send your times when you are sure they are your final times. This saves me ploughing too many messages.
I will open another thread for any suggestions after trialling these settings and format for the competition.
You are free to discuss times if you like, but be aware that this will make people more determined to beat your times so you may lose out as a result.
Finally, on reveal of the results, if anyone is suspicious of a time, tell me, do not post it on the forum. You know how to contact me by pm or email.
